How Far in Advance Should You Book a Wedding DJ?

When should you book your wedding DJ and photo booth? A timeline for GTA weddings, why the best dates go first, and what to do if your date is coming up fast.

Of everything you'll book for your wedding, entertainment is the one people leave too late, and the one that stings the most to miss out on. Because your DJ can only be in one place on your date. Let me give you the real timeline so you don't get caught.

The short answer: 9 to 12 months

For a Saturday wedding in peak season (roughly May through October), the DJs worth having are often booked 9 to 12 months out. If you've got your heart set on a specific person, treat entertainment like your venue and your photographer, lock it early, don't leave it for last.

    A real timeline

    • 12+ months out: book your venue, then your photographer and DJ. That's the trio that goes first.
    • 9 to 12 months: still a solid window, but the peak Saturdays are thinning out.
    • 6 to 9 months: very doable for off-peak dates (Fridays, Sundays, winter); tighter for prime summer Saturdays.
    • Under 6 months: possible, reach out right away. I always try to make it work on a short timeline, but your options narrow.

Here's the truth about why the good dates go first

Weddings pile up on Saturdays in the warm months, and a DJ takes one wedding per date. That's it. So the calendar fills from the most popular dates outward. A great DJ with a June or September Saturday still open a few months out is getting rarer every year. If you find availability, don't sit on it.

Book your DJ and photo booth together

If you want both, booking them as a Bundle early locks your date with one coordinated team. One contract, one person to call and one plan for the day. Wedding DJ and photo booth Bundles start at $3,200 with prints included.

Date coming up fast? Don't assume you missed it

Short engagement, or the date crept up on you? Reach out anyway. I keep some flexibility for tighter timelines and I'll tell you straight what's open. The worst move is assuming you're too late and never asking.

Send me your wedding date and I'll tell you right away if it's open, plus a custom quote within 24 hours. Check availability, or look at our wedding packages and DJ services.
